Proof of identify may consist of any of the following forms: temporary web page/file located on the server hosting original files, link to forums where you're known as the creator asking for signature to be removed, or any other non-fakeable method in which proof of identity can be established. Email address proof can easily be faked as all SMTP servers allow relaying in order to recieve mail from other servers, so there is no guarenteed way to verify what is written is truely from the owner.
